Dollar Store Basket Makeover

I didn't really know what the hell I was doing but somehow I managed to turn a plain old $1.25 plastic basket into a pretty decent-looking one, using some rope. First, I went looking for a good-sized basket at the Dollar Tree store and I found this one. It was perfect! Not too big, not too small. Next, I added some cotton lining from an old blanket I had laying around... Now the trick was to attach it all together... so I used the trusty old glue gun and glued everything down, and then added some trim to hide all that mess. The jute rope I bought for $4 at another dollar store, Dollarama... Oh! I also found some trim I purchased a while back from a thrift store. I only paid 0.50cents for it and now I can finally use it! I attached it first (with some glue), then went-to-town on the basket wrapping the rope around and around until I got to the top... I also used the rope to make some braids for the handles... ...

"It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" WOODEN Signs

No Cricut machine necessary and remember, it doesn't have to be perfect - if it's truly handmade. ;) Found a cute little Christmas-themed package containing 2 stencils over a month ago at the Dollar Tree store (for $1.25). At the time, I didn't know how I'd use them but I knew they'd come in handy. I ended up making TWO signs using these cheap yet wonderful stencils - one for the fireplace and one to hang on a wall. Originally, for the hanging sign, I was just going to paint my design on the stained board itself (like I did with the fireplace sign)... But I changed my mind and decided to paint the entire board with chalk paint BEFORE doing my design. First, I traced out my snowman (using a felt snowman I purchased at Dollarama)... Then I did my best lining up the eyes and nose, then went-to-town on painting my snowman! After all that was done, it was time to stencil on my words... or so I thought. I re...

My First "FALL/Welcome" (Reversible) Wooden SIGN

Made my first "FALL/WELCOME" wooden sign! I did not want a 'distressed' look. I just wanted to make a simple, Fall-themed, reversible sign and it was a challenge let me tell ya. 😞😖😖😖😞 Just finding the time was one of the hardest part. It took me over 3 weeks! And I wasted so much time with the letters... Originally, I wanted to use some 3D wood letters I purchased at Michael's but I became a bit frugal since I found them to be a bit expensive for just a single-use. Instead, I used them to re-create 3D cardboard versions. What a pain that was! I first had to trace each letter out on a thick piece of cardboard, cut them out, firm them up with some glue, (lots of glue!), and then paint them three times. This process took over a week to do and in the end, I did NOT use them (as 3D letters as they were intended for) on my sign! What a waste of time, or so I thought. "HELLO SUNSHINE" Sign

Made this sign for my sunroom. I found a piece of wood. Stained it. Stuck a 'hello' wooden word on it (which I painted), and wrote 'sunshine'...

WOODEN Sign/w CLOCK: "Laundry Time"

I said I would only make WHITE signs for my laundry area since the walls are so dark, but I made this one before I realized that... Stained a piece of wood using the popular walnut stain. Stencilled 'Laundry Time' on it. Painted it. Added a clock and a clothesline. Drew a frame around it using a white pencil crayon... Perhaps I will redo this in white... someday.

ASSEMBLING a Wayfair TV STAND with Electric FIREPLACE...

First of all, I'm not a Wayfair shopper (like a lot of people). I find the majority of their items to be a bit overpriced but certain things you just can't find anywhere else. I've been looking around for quite some time for a decent-looking, light wood, simple yet sturdy, reasonably-priced fireplace/tv stand for my small sunroom and I couldn't find one with all those requirements - online or off. I decided to wait until Wayfair started their clearance sales (since it was the only place that had the closest thing to what I needed), and I found this one: It came in all shades of colour and was regularly priced at $657.99CAD but got it on sale for $439.99CAD - 33% Off. I think it should have been more like originally priced $439.99 and 33% off that, but whatcha gonna do. Now, if there's one thing I really, really hate about ordering furniture like this whether it be from Wayfair, Ikea, online or not, is putting this sh!t together when it arrives. It...

My First (Monogram) FALL WREATH!

With the exception of the grapevine wreath and wooden letter 'B', everything was bought at the Dollar Tree store. This project was actually easier than I thought to make. I just hot-glued a whole bunch of flowers, some acorns, pumpkins etc., to one side of the wreath... Added some faux pensularia (those cigar-looking things on long stems), to the other side... Spray painted the letter 'B'... Waited for it to dry then stuck it on with some more hot glue and presto!

Dollar Tree Purchase: Pressed Wood Words

Bought these words made out of pressed wood at the Dollar Tree. What a find! I've never seen them before at the store and at a $1.25 apiece, you just can't leave them for that price. The backs have little hooks for hanging... Lovely aren't they? These words have been used to death so I have to be creative when using them in future projects!
